On September 7th, the 2023 World Display Industry Conference was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The reporter learned that in 2022, the entire industry output value of China's new display industry exceeded 490 billion yuan.

In recent years, China's new display industry has developed rapidly. In 2022, the entire industry output value of China's new display industry exceeded 490 billion yuan, of which the output value of display devices was 367.1 billion yuan, and the shipping area reached 160 million square meters. Display technology is accelerating iteration, innovative products are constantly emerging, and new display products are accelerating integration with emerging industries such as 5G communication, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, helping various industries accelerate digital and intelligent transformation.

Zhang Yunming, a member of the Party Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, delivered a speech stating that the fundamental, strategic, and pioneering characteristics of the new display industry are increasingly prominent. We need to strengthen policy guidance, establish and improve a mechanism for promoting departmental collaboration, central local linkage, and close cooperation between government and enterprises, and promote the industry to leap towards the mid to high end of the value chain. Boost innovation drive, strengthen the dominant position of enterprises in innovation, focus on industry weaknesses and bottlenecks, strengthen key core technology research, accelerate the industrialization process of emerging display technologies, and innovate product supply to meet the demand of emerging fields.

At the opening ceremony, the industry successively released the "China New Display Industry High Quality Development Index (2023)", the "Top Ten Innovative Technologies (Products) and Applications" of the 2023 World Display Industry Conference's innovative achievements, and the "Chengdu Declaration on Promoting the Green and High Quality Development of the New Display Industry".

The conference also held a major project signing ceremony, with 95 new display industry and ecosystem projects signed during the conference, with a total investment of 165.6 billion yuan. Among them, Chengdu signed 51 projects, with a total investment of 117.6 billion yuan, involving various links of the display industry chain.

Zhang Li, President of the China Institute of Electronic Information Industry Development, stated that currently, the scale of China's display industry continues to grow, with a compound growth rate of 21.6% from 2012 to 2022. From the overall evaluation of the index, China's display industry exhibits characteristics such as growth, periodicity, and agglomeration. From the perspective of regional layout, China's display industry has formed ten high-quality development cities with unique development characteristics on the basis of the original four clusters. Hefei, Shenzhen, Chengdu and other places are ranked in the top three based on advantages such as improved industrial chains, advanced technology, and production capacity scale.
